Asian Film/TV Recs
TW: Asian racial violence and hate
LUX Film Production Club stands in solidarity with the Asian community. The murders of the six women of Asian descent are just one example of the hate the community has been facing during this pandemic and throughout the long history of the Asian diaspora. We urge our members and everyone to take action in support of the Asians facing hate.
Racial issues including Asian American ones are not well-addressed by the media. We recognize how this lack of representation in the news and in other forms of media (e.g. literature, film) impacts the perception of underrepresented groups. This misrepresentation in the media can lead to actions like the violence towards Asians, which we are addressing here.
We hope that you can take some time to read up on this issue and take action. You can read the news, but we also invite you to watch films and consume other media that will broaden your understanding of the Asian diaspora experience. While some of these films, shows, or books contain fictional narratives, they touch on real issues that need to be addressed by people beyond the Asian community.
To show our support, we are adding a list of resources/media recommendations to this statement and will be compiling and posting a list of Asian Film/TV Recs similar to our Black Film/TV Recs series.
This list will be updated with related resources and more details similar to our Black Film/TV Recs series.
